I remember devouring this for the first time in 3rd grade. Now I’m reading it to my almost 8-year-old. I forgot how well-written the prose is.

I am utterly spellbound and fascinated. Robin Sloan’s mind is incredible.

It’s decent overall, but there are little things that annoyingly reveal her progressivism, like the way she mutilates quotes—substituting any male pronouns with generic [human] or [people] alts. It’s grating & totally unnecessary.

Why am I reading this? You know exactly why ;)

Reading aloud to my six year old. It’s the first real chapter book he’s let me read to him. So excited!
