If the ending had been different I would give this a 4. Im glad I read as writing excellent but I did not like the moral failures of a few main characters and the ending seemed manipulative and setting us up for a sequel.

Dnf - this one was annoying

This audio is so excellent - I always loved Cher. What a crazy early life she had. Am 63% done and loving it

I cant rate because I listened to it and missed half while driving but I always love the quebec words and accents. But overall I love the series.

Listening to this and she narrates. She is just so lovely.

A book club book - don’t know if I can finish. Another historical fiction that has interesting history but formulaic writing and no realistic character development.

Still cramming in some short books. Drastically lowering my reading goal for 2025 - Im too busy with work and new grandbaby and travel etc to be reading more than 2 books a month.

Loving so far

I couldn’t wait to start - so set aside my other book I was reading - I loved her first book. She reminds me of Anne Tyler mixed with Wallace Stegner mixed with a little of beach read. Hope it is good - it is a thick sucker!

Did not finish. Seemed unbelievable and trite. I will spend 10 minutes and read about the history on which this book is loosely based and save several hours of time!

Not crazy about it so far - well used theme (woman dressing up as man in earlier times to protect her inheritance). Book club pick - hope it gets better.
