I understand that a huge part of this story is about mental illness, but the unrelenting despair, grimness, alone-ness, and lack of help or support for the main character is A LOT. I'm probably a terrible person for saying it, but I'm not sure how much more of this book I can handle.

At this point I can’t tell if I like it or I’m just stubbornly determined to finish it.

Still. Not. Done. The story gets ever more fascinating and detailed as time goes on, but we're verging into LotR-level stories-within-stories here and I'm beginning to lose track of where we are.

Not even halfway! This is a difficult book and it's told like a fractal, with side stories spinning off and spiraling back, pockmarked with magic and violence. I'm loving it, but I'm not sure it's ever going to go anywhere. I don't exactly mind.

We just spent what felt like 10 pages floating in the vastness of space and I no longer care about anything anymore.

Someday this book will be over!!

This book is like 13 small books, I've been listening for eleven hours already. I should get more credits. >.>

This book is 4% story, 96% universe-building. It's exhausting. The main character is wholly unlikeable. I would think it's a matter of a male author just assigning hysterical, mercurial, inconsistent "traits" to his female protag, but... none of the other characters are consistent or remotely interesting, either. And yet. And yet. I'm going to stick this damn thing out. 200 pages left.
