Not sure I’m a fan of the writing style of this… I feel like it needs more editing but I think this was originally self-published… not sure if it was editing more before this edition.

Dang Qifrey that was cool!

I took a break reading these and had to go skim last few volumes cause I forgot so much 😅 there’s so many characters!! But excited to be back in it. Love Qifrey so much! Glad Coco finally told him.

Rereading via Audio: I heard this had a really good audiobook.

The idea for this was really cool, and the end part more exciting but I didn’t get attached to the characters and found the first 2/3 pretty boring.

I’ve enjoyed reading these stories! Sometimes they feel like they’re missing something, but overall they’re good. Nice to have a somewhat familiar setting as well.

More things happening but I’m just really not attached to any characters? Tristan maybe. I had this issue with the last book I read by her too, even tho I’ve liked others.

Really like her voice in the writing. I was lucky to see Gabrielle at Wordfest and her reading was excellent. I also like how these are small short stories.

Some scary things are finally happening but I still feel mostly bored.

I think the end brought it back round again. Sad all around.

I actually really liked the first half but this last half has been less engaging, which is strange since it’s more of the trial. Also so far nothing that unpredictable. Beth is a hard character to like, but I think that’s probably also intentional. She makes a lot of bad choices.

This chapter has just listed sooo many names it’s bewildering lol. So far more like a textbook on film. No plot yet.

Definitely a somewhat upsetting end to the story! But a good read. I also really liked the acknowledgements in this one haha.

A bit gruesome there, with the famine. The story is maybe not what it seems… I wonder about the truth.

So many red herrings near the end here. Everyone feels very untrustworthy. Have liked this one a lot more than the last few Abbott I’ve read but I do feel like Harper doesn’t feel fleshed out enough.

Three different timelines but one POV. Mostly switching between two of those times. Short, readable chapters. Liking it so far! Wondering about how some of the things happened… feels sad.

Ugh the MLM-ness is so sinister and also wtf Harper? Being from her point of view I don’t get how she is okay doing this to others? And also the casual alcohol everywhere it’s insane.

I feel like I see the ending coming from a mile away. I’m glad Charlie is finding out he doesn’t need to hide. It’s been cute but not an entirely engrossing read for me.

I have about 100 pages left which is far too many. I don’t want to pick up this book anymore but I also want to know at least who the actual murderer is? I’ll skim the rest maybe…

Still very cute and silly, I like Charlie, but I’m not super pulled in? I watch a lot of reality TV and wish there was a bit more of that around it that felt real? It’s very much a caricature.

Really needed a break from Tana French lol. This is very silly so far but I can see it being cute.

Part three mostly focused on motherhood: again a bit harder to connect to, still some good poems. Overall have really liked this collection!

We’ve gotten to into the murder and Toby losing his mind, and there’s just so much around it that I don’t feel like reading through? I just wanna know what happened. Still soooo much left and none of it is feeling nice lol.
