Amazing. I laughed (persistent wrong name). The magic system is so unique, how it’s stored. Sensing containments for magic…. There was a good 3 HEAVY internal gasping points.

If a child isn’t interested in reading, this is a book that has ability to change that!

I’m not understanding how someone can live 500+ years. At this rate shouldn’t people have 10,000 generations (if starting kids at 20).

Going from 5 to a 4. Either I just have taken in so many more books that I’ve changed my thoughts on this book. Or is a case of how easy ratings can vary based of where your heads at.

Fast pace flow. No excessive word filler to lose attention. I did see *some* of this coming. But it blew my expectations; Youngest. The Decider…. I think she knows… who is she really? I think I trust her.

“Harry Potter sorting hat” vibe. Fast pace. Bravery, insecurity, determination. The woods have magic? I will not be the lowest of the low- I will get magic back; the stone.

Abnormal (to me) names. The main character’s name and his siblings? Youngest, uh-oh, Ant (suppose to be another). Interesting. Easy to follow.
Being sorted into cloaks/classes. Reminds me of Divergent and Harry Potter <3
Youngest has a pig, who seems to understand him, in his satchel. Is there magic hiding the pigs true identity?

DNF at 81%. I wasn’t going to get any insight. It’s poetic, word filler. Emphasis of word filler. Classically written like art is painted; (falsely) illuminating a picturesque romance but distracting you so you don’t actually see or understand

Dean is such a good guy. Why didn’t Mick just do it?!

I sniffed 1 or 2 possible people. I’m finding out I don’t like mystery only books. I don’t like lying; so normally I’m dragged along with deception, lies and red flags. I was still trying a few more. - but for a mystery, this book wasn’t bad! If I was into mystery I’d like it on about a 4* level.

She reminds me of you. I feel like she might belong somewhere bigger.

I didn’t gravitate to the “Mystery” shelf but the plot

Witnessing a murder she is in hiding. A detective is helping. New location, new name. And his female partner? Helper? Confidant?. She knows alot about these men and their personalities…. Suspicious of her.
The men have found her. Crashed her car she lent to a friend, thinking it would be her. Shes in ICU.
Amber(confidant) is whisking her away to relocate? Help? I don’t trust her.

Finally got to pick up the book again. I cannot read this at night! It’s 12:56am! I need sleep but it’s amazing.
My favorite read of 2026 by far.
Dean is a good guy. Mick is a good guy. Waiting for something to be off with Dean so her and Mick can play back out. This is all healthy conversations.
8th grade - adult readers will enjoy

Making decisions for your 40 year old self vs living in the moment

Relatable. Well written. Peaceful and cute. Taking me back to the simple times of highschool.
Disable: before birth= a diagnosis. Not a baby.

Woody and his wife trafficked 1st child 12 years prior. This book was trying to make me think Izzy killed, then the dad, then back to Izzy…. I felt disoriented. Just do it once. Izzy did it, then dad actually finished the job. Not back to Izzy again. Trafficked son lived. Your parents are on tv- they’re looking for you. “No they’re not.”

Female too fast. Male too slow. Audio version. Prefer physical on this one.

Audiobook atrocious. Cry voice when garnering sympathy. Hypocrisy. Had I not listened to the fake emotional voice and read this with my eyes I might not have picked up on *all* of it
