Auntie lets Selena go (she looks like the day she was took);remembers nothing, devoted to auntie who abused her. Him and neighbor boy went to aunties sister;swap doll/chaotic fake girl for sister. Bloody bones dies off a cliff; why did Auntie say she was trying to save the boy? Was that sister?!

Esmeralda (council woman) could slay the dragons but Mermaid Chronicles (who her friend could translate) said Cordelia would die.

They were going to get married. Stephanie holding him as he was dying sent her into a jealous rage. Wedding off. Now he’s with “nothing to be jealous of” Steph 🫩

Wade has his ex girlfriend around. He lost his virginity to her. Author is normalizing this- Cordelia insecure and wrong for thinking this wasn’t okay…. Stephanie (ex) is in a string bikini.

Great story teller. Before finding out who stole the pearl, I began to suspect everyone. Even her dad. I think her dad knows about mermaids….. but for now we’re just making him seem like a human with no knowledge. He works with sharks… real sharks or shape shifters?
Due to the way writer writes spice- I wouldn’t want middle grade or YA to think they have to act like that. Something is off with it. Adult.

Sam. She. Young mouse wants to be her partner in crime. He’s been watching her in the big city, the woods. Sam loses it. Kinda harsh. Kid gets her back with digging up evidence driving Sam out of town. She plans to kill his mom, frame him and clear her name. Success.
Also- this has a good chapter of guilt haunting her. Seeing ghosts, mouse/rat(?) festering in her mental space.

Oh she’s spicy.

There are 3 original gods; shapeshifters. These “sharks” that killed mom and brother. I suspect they’re shape shifters. Once she realizes she’s a mermaid- I think her “boyfriend” is too; but evil. Maybe a shapeshifter.

Mellow. I might rather prefer a movie? But will keep for my bookshelves because I know some will definitely like this. Now that I’ve got train experience I was able to picture the scenes better. Finally a different ending of a who did it. All.

Until he can join the academy (still a few years off) he wants to be a voyager like his parents were. He’s trying to unlock the mage in his new princess friend (mageless parents) and sister. He can speak through mind with his dragon, leaving an old man very suspicious. I don’t trust his dad? Academy leader is also suspicious of use of all elements. I trust her?

Okay. So it’s a false name- she’s Avery a serial killer. Host Calvin held the female guests captive like a girlfriend. The last one was still alive, tied up. After killing Calvin, she “saved” the girl technically. Very cold. She said take me with you. She said no and kicked her back then drove off.
This could have been a novella…. So boring for about 80% of the book. Would be a good movie.

Gramps is a beast tamer. A panther. The portal opened up sooner than 2 years; 4 months actually. Art is being taken back home.
