I am glad I chose to continue. Whilst there is still the overbearing info-dumping sections, it’s not as terribly paced as Book 1. Plot pleasantly surprised me. Marriage trope got me rolling my eyes but there are other aspects of the plot that were… refreshing.

Getting through the first half of the book was physically torturous. Too much info-dumping. Too much lore without any payoff.

Forcing myself to just finish this. All hope of a good plot died at Ch 11 where it pretty much stopped trying to pretend it isn’t a reimagined Hunger Games / The Selection with a smattering of Throne of Glass and Red Rising. Feeling a little betrayed because all was good till Ch 11!

Just started Chapter 3. It's not an easy read as I'm new-is to American politics but otherwise interesting as it's filled with anecdotes.

Very easy to read/listen to!

I'm really digging Nancy Campbell Allen's retelling of fairy tales. I'm at a point where I like this audiobook so much I want to buy the physical book to re-read it. Daniel was a side character in the first book, which focused more on his sister. But he is very much the main character in this one. Love the permeating sense of fashion in the story. It never hesitates to remind you that it is in the steampunk genre.

Their conversations about sandwiches and bread are laughable... and NSFW.

Courtney Milan is amazing for sneaking in puns that makes me cringe and worship her intellect at the same time. The pun involves chicken killers and Hamlet. <-- Decode this sentence and you'll probably understand the pacing of this book. (Said pun is followed by another that involves sore throats and demon horses).

All that aside, there was just too much repetitive 'remember you hate me' going on.

Every chapter packs a punch. I feel very disoriented because we are going back in time with each section. Not sure if that is the intended effect.

This book makes me want to read the story backwards. It recaps what happens each hour of a hostage situation but backwards.

People are so innately competitive and easily made jealous. There’s just so much truth in way of life from what he writes in this book, without actually saying it! Servants are not friends. Men have to have a mean streak. Social class existed.

Almost nothing is happening. Ok. So SPOILER>> Kat got together with Emily << ENDSPOILER which was a little interesting but I don't know how it will turn out in the grand scheme of things.

I'm usually a fast reader but this novel keeps me in pace. Not only do I not glance through the paragraphs but I re-read each word. I'm already excited to re-read this entire book after I'm done with the series. How has the world not demanded a movie be made of the book already? Just this book would be enough to span a trilogy! That said, Vin's development and the budding romance between her and Elend is interesting!

There seems to be a lot happening in this book. I'm happy for that because Book 2's usually fall quite flat.

Sanderson stories work so well for me because he drags out the world building throughout the entire book. I can always expect to be taught a new bit about the world be it religion, the magic system, the politics, the culture. He doesn't just dump world-building to the reader but eases them into it so that you are actually having an adventure, reading this adventure-fantasy. (Ok, it's a heist but you get what I mean.)

Why is every chapter so good, so well rounded, so purposeful? And so vivid! It's very easy to imagine what is going on in my head.

Actually this could be pretty good study material for bankers (red flags and such things).

The pace is slowing down a little... Not sure if I can keep my head up while reading. This is why non-fiction is so hard for me. It's like... authors put all their energy to making the first chapter interesting and then after that it's a downhill tragedy.

Chapter 5 was like watching an action scene! The magic concept is very cool!

Too much... author trying to explain things to the reader. I am listening to too many excuses. My ears hurt and my head starts to spin. I don't understand the story telling.

A Snow White retelling that also has the Prince's POV.

Miles and Lucy are just too cute together! He's too rough. She's too determined to fix him (though, I feel like this is a problem with women in general).

Finally! The Beauty and The Beast are starting to make a connection! I thought this was just a normal steampunk fantasy sans vampires and werewolves but seems I am utterly, happily, mistaken!

Damn! Kelsier is like... like spiderman! You are too cool.
