I'm listening to the audiobook....oh! The narrator is HORRIBLE! I feel like I'm being chastised every time I put on this book! Horrible narration

Another annual Christmas read!

My yearly Christmas read. Not enough good things to say about this dear, beloved book.

I'm to the point of not caring if I finish this book or not. SO DISAPPOINTED in my John Grisham! And that I BOUGHT this novel instead of waiting for a library copy!
Not ONE likable character.

Trying to slow down my reading so I don't finish it too fast!

DNF..... possible pick back up at a later time ....it's just DRAGGING........

OMG what a guilty pleasure!
And the reminiscing of the old days.... QUITE the trip.
Heading into the '80s now can't wait!

So far EXCELLENT. But the DAMNED puritans!!

The present storyline is completely useless in my opinion ...I skip over it.... maybe I shouldn't but I do.

This is going to be great but it's a slow start.

Current obsession is Misia Sert, I wanted to get possibly her take I know what's going on during the French occupation at that time. Misia was a fascinating woman!
Sadly now we know Chanel has not faced history well in that regard.

Oh....THIS is a hard read.

There are some dry parts, sadly, but this is a great story that you keep wanting to go back to...I'm sad that it's a relatively short book though! Oh.....there's a phrase that moved me...."Joan was shocked at herself, how quickly she had learned to shed decades of inhibitions"....you FEEL that!

Good Lord I hope this picks up.

My dear GOD. Whatever you've heard or read about this historic hurricane....it's much, much worse.
My father in law made his home in Galveston, and the names of the buildings and the street names are all so familiar to me. What I know know, is that every time I walk on the beach, I'm walking on someone's temporary grave. These poor, unfortunate souls.

A re-read on Audible.

A treat to savor throughout the Christmas season. Any book by the two of them is bound to be wonderful, and this is the second based around Christmas, the first being, "Last Christmas in Paris", with a more melancholy atmosphere, (WW1) yet so incredibly good.

DNF ....just too predictable. And I'm tired of ANYTHING that remotely reminds me of politics! I've had enough of it! I might pick it up in a year or so.

A re-read, but I'm always at home when enmeshed in the lives of my Tudors.

This book is like comfort food. Every once in a while I need to re-read it.

Excellent!

Very disappointed so far. Again, another book I was looking forward to that has let me down. The McCarthyism reads like it was put there as an afterthought to make the book more interesting.
Hopefully the next half will be more impressive.

Not impressed. First of all, a big error was made in chapter 1 by resurrecting Elsa Maxwell, who had been dead 5 years! It's things like THAT that shows me the author was rather lazy in her research.
Almost two thirds of the way in, and Maria and Aristotle haven't even begun their affair yet. (Obviously no Jackie either.)
I had SUCH high hopes for this book, but I don't believe it will rate more than 2 stars from me.

Oh what a delightful book to read inside on a cold winter day! I'm glad Mrs. Margaret March is finally getting the attention she deserves.
I picture her as Mary Astor as seen in the 1949 version of "Little Women". (The version that I had never seen until this past Christmas.)
No doubt the book will receive 5 stars from me.
