I think the least plausible thing in this whole story is that a super rich family's luxurious house only has 3 bedrooms (2 for the family, 1 for guests) 😆

Going to start my reading year by re-reading possibly my favourite book of 2025. It wasn't the best, just really enjoyed it :)

Ugh, I should probably DNF, this isn't working for me. How can she say "I was taught to love the things that are good for me", but then hate the Sun? Without the Sun's magic and light, you'd be dead, dum-dum. How much better for you can something be?! Never mind that it's a rather selfish, sad sort of outlook on love.

I haven't found a character this annoying in a while! It's not *his* fault, Aurora! Stop blaming the messenger who is essentially saving your life and your sister's. Very weak introduction i.m.o., but maybe it will improve... 🙃

This debate was so stupid, why did she even entertain it? Should have just refused.

This is sooo drawn out. It's not that what's happening isn't interesting, but there's barely been any progression for over half the book, plus constantly jumping from pov to pov is really killing the tension for me 🙃

Why is it so fragmented? I hate reading a couple of pages from one pov, then moving on to the next, and the next, and the next... Too many povs, I think.

This book is so strange. The story itself is almost silly, yet the writing is so lyrical and philosophical. It's not working for me, and not working as a "spooky" October read either.

This reads like a fever dream. Yes, the writing is poetic, but I don't understand what's happening half the time 😅

This finale is so disjointed! Jumping from pov to pov after just a paragraph or two... Really not enjoying this style.

Really should DNF, never read a book that basically just describes (countless) characters eating, chatting, joking and sort of practicing magic, which consists of passing streams of magic energy between them. No issue with scenes like these in moderation, but not for 100s of pages!

This is so slow and dull! So many mundane descriptions, and other than some action at the start, nothing has actually happened yet! Should have DNFed long ago, but now I might as well finish it.
