... slipped that part of the book. But the rest was fun to read. They do mention the part but it's not in detail just reference.

...the character spiraling after things being changed is way too realistic and relatable. Nice to see myself in something but also, couldn't be me ya know?

Interesting read. I always find these kinds of things interesting. But as a new mom (to a just about 4 month old baby boy) that last part had me in tears. Gonna hug my boy extra close.

...not exactly how I thought things were going to go. Very interesting look at the satanic panic of that time.

Literally, does no one in her life care about her? Like, all of them were just like nah she don't need to know? I was a great read, just like...please girl, find people that care about you.

Plus! It's a retelling of the Johnny Appleseed mythos in a macabre sense. Which I greatly enjoyed. That isn't a story that you retold often, and never quite in this way...

I've been having some issues with gothic novels of late because they're missing the personification of place that I love in gothic literature. However, this novel isn't just a gothic novel, it's a gothic fairytale! And the difference is the place they personify isn't typically a manor, a school or a building but a forest/ruins or in this case...orchards.

Which was done pretty well once you saw it for what it was.

I had just watched Dopesick about Perdue issues in the opioid epidemic. And thought this would be an interesting read. Both made me incredibly sad for the people that they hurt, though this 1 had a more satisfying conclusion. (Still kinda annoyed Perdue was allowed to just like go bankrupt).

Both companies really hurt a lot of people & families. Though I do think this 1 going around distribution was more messed up.

But I was really hoping for more classically gothic kind of pieces, just for it to lean real hard into it and it didn't quite hit that.

It is a great ghost story, if you love a great ghost story.

This one really got me. First, the narrator is unreliable but in like the best kind of way. This is my favorite trope and I really liked how it was done here...

Not to mention, I did not really see the ending coming. Though it makes total sense.

Not sure how I feel about this one. It wasn't bad and the reveal got me. Plus it had one of my favorite tropes. I guess it's just how much emphasis was put on how he wanted to help her that kinda got under my skin considering the ending....

...really interesting and kinda a really big cliffhanger to end on. Also....also, that tiny story at the end like she found this in a store to write. I thought that was cute.

...this was an overall satisfying story conclusion. I do enjoy that men got a saying in something that is going to affect the world of men.

...I enjoy that all of them had mini heart attacks when she was like yeah I'll sleep with Hak. It's an emergency lol

This series gets better with each book...

...I'm not sure quite what I was expecting with this book, but this wasn't it. It's a really interesting history of the Wicked Witch of the West though.

...it's been over a week since I finished this book and I'm still not sure what I read. This is such a strange book. It's going on the shelf with Bunny and Just Like Home...cause they're all horror maybe and weird as all hell.

...ok, so I spent the whole time like there is a serial killer ok. but by the end, what did I read?!? What did I just read?!? That ending was just ridiculous. I loved the whole book but I think it's going in the genre of Bunny. Meaning, what did I just read? Ask me a couple months from now and I'll probably still be so confused...

...I picked this up because I saw it on scribd and loved the cover. However, I love love love the book! The character growth, I'm hoping that there is a change in the second one because I liked one of the characters before she made bad decisions. She isn't bad but power corrupts and you can make bad decisions to get to a better outcome. (it might just hurt you while doing it)

...I picked this up on a whim based on a youtube or tiktok. And truthfully it was a lot of fun. I do enjoy the dual time lines. I enjoy how much both stories dealt with a lot of the same themes. Just loved it...

...I'm pretty sure the main character is autistic. Like it was so nice to read from her point of view cause like I felt seen.

Anyway, this book was all sorts of topsey and turvey. But is that cause it's a mystery/thriller? Or is she an unreliable narrator? Either way, things were real surprising. It was also really nice to see someone do things according to how they understand loyalty or right and wrong.

Hello!?!!! Like, literally been so disappointed by dragon books of late. But this!!! This is literally all I want in a dragon book. And the romance!! Like, there is some sort of stakes with that. If you mess up, you have to do something to prove that you're worth while!! No we're mates, meant to be. No, you messed up! Now make it right...

...I liked this one a lot better. Just one book and the main character already has some growth. But so much more so by the end of book two. Really enjoying that.

The guy at the end was hilarious. Just super silly.

...Yona kinda makes me super angsty. But I do really like the story.

...I know this is romance. But the world building is super fricken cool in this book. Like, I'm really interested in learning more about the planet. There are ones with wings and ones with horns. From what I was seeing in a youtube wrap up, one might even be something like a snake? idk, really interested in learning more about the evolution...

...why doesn't the island let them leave?

Also, why can't they just decide not to kill each other? idk. It just feels like maybe they don't have to all die? Also, what happens to all the other queens when they leave? And I'm really sad about the couple...

...this one took a turn that I really wasn't expecting. I really didn't expect him to be who he turned out to be to all these people. And more than that, that all these people were just randomly there...at this wedding!! Anyway, really liked it.
