Fascinating—now that she is older she’s acting so young

I’m saying this as somebody who was a very precocious child—the protagonist does not think or sound like a nine-year-old at all

Only reading things that are short/light for a bit while still in this little reading slump of mine. This is a pretty well-circulated book in the school library I work at and makes me think of Wendy Mass and Rebecca Stead books I adored as a child (can’t believe I didn’t read this as a kid?). Interested to see where this goes.

Moshfegh’s pen really is something serious. One of our best contemporary writers.

Have been in a terrible reading slump so I’ve resolved to re-read a book I know I love. It’s really interesting, too, because I haven’t read this since high school!
