Obviously dated (came out in ‘65, but his Intern training was around ‘57, when I was born) and very gripping story of his intern year as a doctor. I first read it as a Readers Digest condensed book not long after it was published, and this is probably my 2d or 3d reread since then.

Jim Rittenhouse is starting The Sheep Look Up
Horribly sad and a damning portrait of the future where pollution of all sorts is destroying the earth. Feels more prophetic now than when I first read it years ago.

Excellent. Read the book over seeing the movie - richer and better explanations.

Rereading for the first time in a very long time (50 years?) and found I had read only bits and pieces of it. It's interesting, has its biases, and needs to be taken with salt, but I'm getting a good deal out of this read, especially about the beginnings of Zionism and the development of Jewish immigration into Palestine. And I'm only 290 pages (out of 600) into the story.

Ingeniously set forward time travel and alt- history book; in the near future, Britain is a lot worse off, and scholars open up long secret documents that show a gate to the past will open, and one could go back and change history for the better... So far, it's a great read. The protagonist is an interesting fellow, side characters are well drawn, and the writer has set the scenery well.

Just starting out; drawn to this because of Jimmy Johnson's great understated comic strip, ARLO AND JANIS.

I think this one is my favorite of the set, between the depth of detail and plot, the wonderful panoply of different characters, and the quality of the writing!

Cersei reminds me very much of a person I knew who was very cunning in mean, hard ways - but very dumb about what was going on in a reality that wasn't colored by her darker dreams.

Stalling soon after our protagonist gets into college; he feels angry and very much a fish out of water, and it started getting painful to read with his huge level of discomfort. Will restart, but not till summer.
