I'm bemused. Who would think a speculative trading system is a sensible solution to providing food and board for a population? Discrepancies like prioritising food purchase and going for a stroll with his wife first thing after waking are never explained.
I don't buy into this dystopia.

I like the story so far, but I'm really struggling with the language. It is not the Ghanaian cultural references - which I get are part of the main character's background. No, the problem is abbreviations and slang that can only be understood if you are of a similar age group and geographic background. I speak English as well as a native speaker, but didn't grow up in the US and am in my fifties. I find it annoying.
