At three books into this series and nearly 2/3 into this book, the fact that we still don’t know the Big Secret about why Dom left Willa at the altar is a huge problem.

I should DNF this but I’m actually so mad at it that I need to finish to give it the full and accurate review it deserves. (What if it gets better, you ask? That would be nice, but I don’t hold out much hope.)

I'm gonna try not to be like this for the entire book, but just for the record: this is not how estate administration works.

I would just like to tell Pepper that she won’t end up in the middle of Brooklyn if she takes the 6 train, since the 6 train ends at City Hall.

It’s extremely funny to me that they’re talking about the new Madison Square Garden when we are several iterations past that now. Also I miss going to MSG so much. Sigh.

This is genuinely delightful!! However, I would just like to say: justice for Diana Highwood.

Not to be extremely me about this, but since this book takes place sometime after the 2017 World Series, it’s a little jarring to see references to Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride at Disney World since that’s been gone for years. (Since 1998, to be exact, thank you Liz.)

This is a good book, but I can’t stop laughing because John Smoltz is quoted as saying “I’m not stuck in the old school” and that’s just objectively false. Smoltz is one of the most get off my lawn broadcasters in the business. Lmao.

Gary Thorne has had some pretty great calls of Yankee home runs over the years (see Torres, Gleyber and Mattingly, Don), but an underrated one IMO is his call of A-Rod’s first home run in 2009. Maybe I only remember it because I watched that game on MASN, but Gary saying “baseball theater - his first at bat, first pitch!” is definitely part of my internal soundtrack of the season.

I have a lot to say about this one so far, but let’s start with a small nitpick: “the concrete rumbles as though the D train were clattering by” is not the way I’d phrase it, especially since D train runs underground and the actual train that you’re likely to see and hear from the stadium is the 4.

I wish I had finished this book a week or two ago.

“The incorporation of sabermetrics into awards discussions hit a speed bump in 2012, when Miguel Cabrera ... totaled 7.2 WAR, very respectable but well below the 10.8 of 20-year-old rookie sensation Mike Trout.” Yeah and I’m still mad about it.

I’m enjoying this a lot, but Sean, the district attorney cares about things like probable cause so she can turn your arrests into convictions/so there isn’t a fruit of the poisonous tree problem. Just saying :-P

Not to be too, you know, me about this but: (1) not sure why Grace was feeling Hudson River breeze given that she was somewhere in the LES/Chinatown based on subway stops and (2) "applying for probate" is not that easy/quick and you're gonna need an estate attorney - I am here if any book characters need referrals...

She wants to make clothing out of draperies so naturally now I want to watch the Sound of Music.

The choice to write this from Marianne and Brandon's perspective is so interesting - and despite the fact that I'm neither here nor there on them in the original novel, I really like it.

So the hero in this book is in love with the heroine's half sister and thinks the heroine's other sister is the pretty one. This is, um, not personally what I want to see as the set up for a romance novel. At least, not one with the potential for me to really love it.

Lauren Graham blocking out everything that happened in season 7 is me.

Currently rooting for Andi to get with the other guy she likes... or anyone else for that matter. This doesn't bode well for Kellan as a romantic lead.

There are some serious timing issues in this re The Bachelor/Bachelorette and where they are in the calendar year.
