Matt Maldre is on page 47 of 400 of The Art of R Programming: A Tour of Statistical Software Design
Before this book, I've tried two other R programming books. So far this one is the best at explaining the concepts of R. I'm looking to use R to analyze baseball stats and trivia.

Matt Maldre is on page 61 of 360 of Analyzing Baseball Data with R
My last review on page 51 talked about how the book is packing too much information into a dense format, making it challenging to understand all the various data structures and methods of R. I was tempted to go back and re-read the first 51 pages, so I really understand how R works. But instead I pressed on.

The next ten pages (51-61) give more examples of how to use R, and it's getting easier to understand.

I'm only 14% done with this book, and I'm already starting to get a bit confused. He breezes through how R works really fast.

I'm thinking this book is for someone who is already familiar with R. I'm familiar with other programs, but not R. Lots of details are glossed over on how vectors, objects, dataframes work.

I wonder how an older kid would enjoy this. Might be a bit dry for a kid.

I’m thinking about writing a zine about joy, reusing some blog posts from my blog spudart.org; so I’m re-reading this book for ideas.

Yup, I'm finally learning Git. Going pretty well so far. Although, I kinda think I should learn Git to my specific use case. This book gives an overview--which is nice, but while I read this book, I'm constantly mapping the overview to how I will be using Git. It would be nice to just have the tutorial geared completely to my use (which is using Git with Wordpress on WP Engine)

Matt Maldre is on page 73 of 344 of Artists Re:thinking the Blockchain (FACT)
The introduction was pretty good. The first couple of chapters are written in artspeak using big words and unnecessary long sentences. If you can cut through the artspeak, there are some good concepts. Overall, this book looks promising as it presents many different artist approaches to blockchain technology.

A lot of this book is pretty obvious stuff. BI do have 18 highlights thus far, so there are some good points in the first quarter of the book.

That had to be one of the most boring introductions ever. It was like a footnote introduction about the current state of theology in 1969--which didn't really seem at all related to the subject of the book. The introduction felt more like the author ranting. Maybe some people might relate to this introduction, I did not. I'm glad to be into the actual contents of the book on page 21.

Getting a little bit better as now the book is getting into the actual text from the Assyrian tablets. Who know that ancient writing could be more interesting than some of today's academic writing?

If Amazon owns Goodreads, why can't Amazon put a percentage option on the reading progress? The Kindle shows only percentage completed, not page numbers.

So far most of the book I've read in the print version. This book is so good that I bought the Kindle version to be able to read anytime. Starting around page 208 and onward I've been adding public notes that anyone can read.

Matt Maldre is on page 51 of 504 of Drupal: The Guide to Planning and Building Websites
As a drupal user, I picked up this book to learn about how to plan websites with drupal. The first chapter 1, "Introduction to Drupal Planning" almost made me go to sleep. But chapter 2 "Managing Open Source Projects" was much more of a help when the author gave specific Methodologies along with diagrams. The diagrams helped a bunch. Things like Agile, Scrum, Rad, and Spiral Methodologies.

I jump around with this book. It's not one that you really read all the way through. But you pick up a chapter here and there. Each chapter is so loaded with good advice, if you read this book all the way through, your head would explode.

It was bound to happen. The book is knee-deep in calculus and I'm feeling lost. I'm hoping the author gets off this calculus kick soon.
