I mostly started this out of high school nostalgia since I didn't get to it back then. I'd say 40% of what people say in this book is so cheesy I have to just laugh and take a break. I know this is part of a series, so I'll see how book 2 goes!

If you like suspenseful/creepy books about witchcraft, I recommend this book!

Sometimes I find books that are so good I read 80+ pages in 1 sitting, since they're that good. This is definitely one of those series. Creepy, exciting, mysterious. I love them!

I may have found a new top 3 favorite author. These books are so charming, having been written in the 40s/50s. Some of the scenes made me laugh out loud!

My favorite book by Condie so far! I love this one. I haven't read Stephen King yet, but it feels like a mix of Stranger Things, R. L. Stine, and King. PG13 rated.

Kinda fascinating! I love the whole concept of sirens. Mysterious. I like this book more than the Matched series because of these elements.

The language is gorgeous but I'm having trouble engaging with this world. The protagonist is 17 with solemn, formal narration. It seems too mature for the age; I feel like I'm reading a robot's thoughts, not a teenager's. It's possible that's intentional, given the "perfect/non-deviating society" theme. Although I'm over half way through I don't feel like much has happened, but I'm excited to keep reading the series!

Interesting intro. With a bully protagonist, I wasn't going to even try to like this character. But then I started to understand her and appreciate her humor.

I really wanted to read all 12 books when I was younger. So glad I can read them all now! So GOOD.

This has been on my TBR list since I saw it at a Barnes & Noble like 5 years ago! Super excited 😊
