When the author SHOWS it’s interesting. When the author TELLS (which is 75% of the time) I tune out. This is also suffering from Classic YA Tropes when it could have been a really interesting adult fantasy if the author had been willing to go there.

Chapter 1 was really interesting where the author talked about her pivotal life moment walking the pacific northwest trail. But ever since it’s been mostly the author asking the reader nonstop questions to be “thought provoking” rather than offering much substance.

This is a book of gay love poems and you cannot convince me otherwise.

Calling it now: it’s the dad. Also, this could really have used another round of edits for grammatical errors.

Slow and kinda meh so far.

I don’t know wtf I’m reading and I want it to end.

Protect this man at all costs.

It’s getting better but the exposition is still terrible and the writing style gives the MC a very juvenile/cartoonish feel.
