Such poetic prose! I’m already so invested in these characters. The descriptions of the early years beautifully capture the complexity of being a teen in general with the added layer of being an LGBTQ teen in small town America. The main character’s perspective as an adult is an artful illustration of trying to open back up to trusted relationships after trauma. I’m so curious to see where this goes.

Listening to this for a book club associated with the local business networking group. It is so offputting and ableist and aggressive. The message so far is just push until you drop, which would be burnout inducing. I’m trying to force myself to finish just so I can critique it fully informed. Not sure if I’ll actually be able to stomach it that long.
