I DNFed. It just lost me. The pacing was so slow I couldn’t even concentrate; normally when I read fiction I fall into a book and don’t realize how much time has passed until either I fall asleep at night or an alarm goes off reminding me I have something to do.
I pushed and pushed with this book yet found myself having to go back and read almost entire chapters over again because my mind had wandered.

DNFing for now. Turned into “romantasy” literally across the board in book 2, which is not my thing. If you don’t mind, then it won’t bother you. I do, and I almost feel bamboozled to some extent because there was literally none of that in the first book. Oh well.
