Dr. Ehrman is someone whom people have strong opinions about. I chose to read this after he had recommended it as a starting point from which to approach his non-academic publications.

Overall, I find his reasoning sound. He has been able to provide historical context as well as describe how the thinking about what Christianity is has changed over time.

The book is dense. Many of Frankl’s ideas about classification and etiology which dominate the initial portion of the book are only of historical interest, given that they never really took off.
