These days, I so often find myself feeling too lazy to write a review when I finish a book. I just want to rate it and move on to the next one.

Officer Barbrady: Yes, at first I was happy to be learning how to read. It seemed exciting and magical, but then I read this: Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand. I read every last word of this garbage, and because of this piece of s**t, I am never reading again.

So, I just finished a biography of the 70's rock band The Runaways. Goodreads feels the need to now recommend to me -- because of that book -- Kathleen Norris, "Atheist Universe", and a CS Lewis bio. Umm, what?

Derrick is on page 101 of 608 of The Iliad
So Zeus sends a dream to Agamemnon ordering him to attack Troy again and promising victory and glory -- all the while KNOWING he [Zeus] intends to humiliate Aggie. That's some cold-hearted action right there.

I hit 61 books for 2013, and my goal was 60. Technically, I should probably read one more to offset the two graphic novels I read (Watchmen and an R Crumb collection). But I am okay with it if I don't.

Just received this book as a gift from my Fitocracy summer secret santa. Looking forward to getting started.

I noticed that the independent bookseller, like Parnassus Books (Nashville) or The Tattered Cover (Denver) used to partner with Google Play Books -- "used to", as in just last year. Now, Kobo seems to be the company of choice.

Wonder what happened?

Why can I never decide between the convenience of e-books and the beauty and tradition of paper books?

Superb so far. I have read Doctor Strange 1-12. It's dark and serious and perfectly suited to the B&W format. Brunner's and Colan's artwork are amazing.

I have a few more of these Conservative/Libertarian/Tea Party books. I have been flipping through them, and I am not sure I am going to read them. These sorts of books tend to look really the same after awhile. I have read one decent one, one mediocre one, and one terrible one. Perhaps that's enough. . .

100 pages into THE DIRT; I've had enough. About the time Tommy knocked a girl's teeth out, and Nikki inserted a phone into a girl: Finis.

Every time I think I am going to put this book down because of how unlikable these guys are, then it does something interesting. You get a scene of Vince, for example, remembering David Lee Roth sitting him down over lunch in 1981 and telling him all about how the music industry works. Or a few pages from the guy who got Elektra to sign the band. And then I keep reading.

Saw a preview for "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" film, and I thought it was time I finally read the book. Looks like a good story.

Derrick is on page 96 of 240 of Eddie Trunk’s Essential Hard Rock and Heavy Metal
In the Judas Priest chapter, he says that when Halford came out, the fans continued to love him. He says they are to be commended, especially given the general assumption that metal fans are not "particularly evolved".

Is he remembering rightly? I wasn't into Priest in the late 80's -- it was all Poison/Crue/GnR/Leppard for me -- so I don't remember.

Received Tom Clancy's LOCKED ON as a gift. First Clancy I have read in over a decade. My god, the first few pages are badly written.

Funny when the characters in a horror novel all say, "I'm glad THAT's over!" -- and yet there's 40 pages left. They're not #GenreSavvy.

Just been going through my Kindle and Nook libraries, as well as some of my graphic novels. I added them all to To-Read, and I removed everything from To-Read that I do not currently own. Crazy. I need to stop buying books for awhile. Yeah. Like that'll happen.

I have decided to stop tracking my e-books by device and just call them "e-books". Do I really care whether I read "Pride and Prejudice" on google books or on Kindle -- both of which were primarily read through an iOS device?

I think not.

Just had a heckuva great time listening to Felicia Day's G+ hangout re chick lit fantasy and SF. We made the hashtag #VaginalFantasy into a worldwide trending topic, which confused a lot of people on Twitter. And I bought two novels on Kindle based on the discussion.

Okay, it's a new year. I am aiming for 65 books this year, with no more than 12 comic collections counting towards the total. Woohoo!

Well, the library books I was reading had to go back. I apparently wasn't loving them as much as I told myself I was, and I took too long to read. It's okay. That's the beauty of libraries: So easy to sample things.

Comics trades are kind of cheating, I know, but I won't otherwise get 18 books read in 6 weeks (probably).

Went through my 2011-Read list and found a few more books I have not put the finish date on. Now, I only have 18 books to go to reach my 52 books this year. :-) Maybe I should go get a bunch of comics TPBs from the library and knock out 4 or 5 books this weekend?
