I’m trying something I heard on a YT video: Read just 12 pages a day of a classic work. No rushing through. Try to absorb it, looking up words and underlining quotes, etc. I skipped the intro and dove straight in. I like this physical edition. I don’t handle tree-books much these days, and I miss it. But I also have the Kindle version, for when the book OS not convenient. (I’m not crazy about poetry on ebooks.)

I am reminded of that feeling I had 25 years ago in the days following, when I wanted to turn the TV to something besides the news. And I would immediately switch back because it felt disrespectful to not be paying attention. That feeling is back now as I consider pausing this book, as good as it is. (And it is excellent.)

I’m starting to get exhausted reading through this. I went down the rabbit hole hard this year, with videos and films and all. Born today’s have come down, and I’m only half way through the book. No doubt lots of stories about the initial ground zero efforts and WTC7 collapsing. I’m just not sure I want to keep living in this headspace right now.

This is going to be a tough book to get through…

They were so excited when Blair and New Labour swept in after almost two decades of Tories. I’ve forgotten what it’s like to be that excited and optimistic about politics.

An excellent book so far. I don’t recognize ALL the names or pop culture references, but I’m learning! Two months ago, I didn’t know the difference between Noel and Liam or the names of most britpop artists. Baby steps.
