Brian is on page 221 of 410 of The Devil Drives: A Life of Sir Richard Burton
Definitely NOT to be confused with the movie star and love interest of Elizabeth Taylor by the same name, Richard Burton.

Captain Sir Richard F. Burton was born in 1842 and died in England in 1861. Written over 100 years after Sir Burton died this book was extensively researched and the information extensively verified.
Outstanding man, outstanding author !

As this a cookbook I have just left it open as I bumble along making various dishes using the Instant Pot. A work in progress.

I do this with every cookbook that I’m reading and trying recipes from.

Had to temporarily shelve this book and all my plans. Major operation very soon. A tumour was discovered growing on my kidney and an early ‘eviction’ is paramount. So, I will be having the tumour removed soon and hopefully they won’t have to also take my kidney. Even though I have 2 kidneys I’m partial to keeping them BOTH! But what will be will be.

So far the series has been quite exciting, good character development, lots of action, various settings on land & sea, and never a dull moment. Several others had commented that the story was boring, so far I haven’t found it that way. But, I still have a ways to go. I like how Kyla Stone writes.

Seems with my continual use of the revolving door into the hospital system, combined with tons of chaos this book got lost in the shuffle. Once I find it then I will start all over again from page 1. What of it that was able to read before the chaos struck I rather enjoyed. So it won’t be a hardship in any way, shape or form for me to go back to page #1.

Excellent story! I’m not surprised as Vered Ehsani brings her skill, talents dry wit & humour with each book in a style that is all her own. I am certain that I have read every book that Vered Ehsani has ever published. If I haven’t then I would incessantly search the world over just to read the story and if possible, to buy that book!!

I was writing an update today, Feb 16 2017 but it was unceremoniously whisked away before I had time to finish it. How rude ! Lol. Now I cannot locate the update to correct or finish it off. If you find it, please let me know for I must retrieve it, nourish it, and most of all edit it so it will be presentable, plus make some sense...... lol. Thank YOU !

Feb 16, 2017. - Sorry to all my GoodRead friends if it seemed as if I had disappeared for the last month or two. I just finished the seemingly endless chemotherapy and have found that I am just too exhausted to do much else but read a little and sleep a lot.

Right from the first page I have enjoyed this book, the stories are parables and is obviously written from the heart in such a meaningful and inspiring manner. Beautiful !!! I gently savour every story and reflect on how each may relate to life.

Well, I made it past my original Challenge this year of 100 books. Though I had to up my challenge just a few days ago because I noted that I had inadvertently entered a book twice into the 'Finished' category. Not finding a way to delete that second book, it was just easier to make up for it by increasing the number of books in my original Challenge. Said and done. But I will keep reading.

This book is incredible! sobering, and brings the politically protected BIG PHARMA & INDUSTRY etc into focus for investigation. WHY DO WE LET THEM DO THIS TO US ??!! And they get rich, while we get cancer. A poor deal, really.

Unfortunately I won't be reading this book for the next 7 to 10 days as ironically, sadly, I will be recovering from my fourth Chemo session set to take place in a few days. Later...

Reading this book is slow going, if not for a other reason than it is so compelling & quite detailed that I read and read many of the pages to absorb it all. WOW !

Wow ! This author has really researched this topic. So far, shame on the politicians and shame upon the pharmaceutical companies with only greed as their motivation to provide treatment drugs rather than developing drugs that cure !

I love this reading this book, the characters are great and Beatrice is dynamic, has sarcastic wit coupled with a dry sense of humour that adds depth and dimension to a most excellent series. I would recommend this series to anyone and every one as they too should experience the work and talent of the author.
