I paused the print book because I wasn't really feeling it. Coming back to try the audiobook now, a few months later

{Chasing the Wild by Elliott Rose} I've seen this recommended a lot, mainly in Thirsty Thursday, and it was free on libro.fm recently so I thought I'd give it a go. Bad move! 


The attitude towards women in this book was just awful. I *know* it's the “snowed in with my ex boyfriend's dad” trope so I wasn't expecting it to be brilliantly well crafted, but does the MMC have to be such a misogynistic dick?

So far it's extremely weird yet I can't stop listening. Certainly wouldn't say I'd recommend it

I liked the characters, they felt flawed and real. Their reason for breaking up the first time round was solid, and not based on miscommunication or betrayal. This was good because neither of them was responsible. However it did make the whole “we can't bear to be near each other” thing slightly odd - and to still be traumatised by it 5 years later.

This book is about Holden & Phoenix. But a third character is Phoenix's best friend Kasen. I read around half of this and I felt so bad for Kasen. He clearly likes Holden and yet the two carry on a sexual relationship behind his back. Holden is sort of off the hook because they're not in a relationship or in any way exclusive. But Phoenix going behind his best friend's back multiple times, while also warning the frie

Found the audiobook on KU. Loving it so far, narration is excellent.
