i gave up on it. i will never read it. at least not in the accepted sense of reading. i can open it and smell it, maybe be motivated by the drawings and texts in the original da vinci's notebooks. but it's a boring read. so different from the book on jobs.

קורא כבר בפעם השנייה. ואיזה תענוג. איזה ספר נהדר, מצחיק ואוהב אדם. אהבת האדם והשמחה שבחיים ניכרות מכל שורה. אז איך, אלוהים, איך ?

הספר הזה מלא בכל טוב. אבל איני יודע איפה כאן הדפקט, בי או בספר, כי אני מושך את הקריאה בו כבר חודשים. אני מניח שהאשמה בשנינו. אין בי דחיפות גדולה לקרוא בו כי לא נקשרתי מספיק לדמות הראשית. לא נראה שהיא צריכה את ההשגחה העליונה שלי בשלב הזה. אולי בפרק הבא, עוד לא אמרתי נואש. הספר טוב, אמרתי ?

i think i understand now my certain discontent with this title. it lacks drama, and as surprising as it seems it's not the fault of poor isaacson. he is committed to the facts, and so relies solely on evidence, no fiction attached. it worked well with 'jobs', in which the ample interviews supplied the moisture,intrigue and drama. this title doesn't contain it, and hence feels sometimes like a task to be done with

when a group of academy employees assemble oon the balcony of the faculty header, we want to hear them. i want to hear them. but a great modern novel doesn't linger on things that don't contribute to the main plot. but these momentsm the mundane, everyday moments, are the moments where the characters are really coming into life, when you start to see them as round figures

only on page 103, and already ready to give up on this book. what does it say on me? what does it say on the book ? i'm missing dialogue, real characters, narrative. michalangelo by irving stone for example brought the person to life, not only its work. in short, i opened the book looking for leonardo, and didn't find it all the way to pg 103. maybe things will change later on maybe i'll have the stamina to endure..

זו הפעם השנייה שאני קורא בספר. אין גבול לגאונות של פוגל. כמה יפים הדימויים, כמו זה פתח הרכבת התחתית כלוע פעור שהבל פיו מסגיר את רקבונם של האנשים שבקרבו. כמה יפה העברית שבקולמוסו. וטעם לפגם יש בכך שלפחות בהתחלה הדמויות מתאפיינות בארכיטיפיות שחוקה: הגבר שקול והאשה היסטרית. לבטח ניתן להאמין לכך בוינה של מפנה המאה שעברה שבה היסטריה הייתה 'מחלה' נפוצה בקרב נשים. ועדיין ניתן היה לתאר מורכבות אנושית עשירה יותר

just returned to it, after one year of looking the other way. not bad so far. but still, the feeling is that although jt is engrossing it isno great literature.

so far it's great drama. stephen king surprising no each step of the way. not the kind of book i thought it would be. and the horror is there also, but i guess it will come to prominence later on
