I think, perhaps, I am too far from the target audience for this book. I am very interested in the frank discussion of sexuality and gender in fiction and had high hopes for this book. However, it feels deeply entrenched in a culture I know little about, in a way that makes the text laborious rather than rich.

I am trying to practice quitting books more liberally, and it appears this is my first victim.
