SO OBSESSED

my first science fiction book and i had such a blast!!! only thing is that i felt like the ending felt a bit rushed and was a little underwhelming

i like nina but feeling meh about everything else... not in the mood for a soap opera featuring a messy entangled romance i don't care about

a bit of a snooze ngl

out of all of jane austen's novels, this is probably the one with the slowest pace

still holds up after eight years. the greatest slow-burn romance of all time

mr. rochester is in his late 30s and jane is barely an adult??? girl...

the last 25% kinda ate ngl

i wanted to give this book another chance after 6 years but i can see why i didn't like it... sometimes the romance and the dialogue/inner monologue feels like it's taken straight out of a wattpad novel

i've been waiting for a book that does actually good slow burn enemies to lovers and THIS IS THE ONE!!!!

maybe i'll give this book another chance...

i love descriptive writing but novik's writing is overly verbose at times

that part where everyone is compelled by magic to tell the truth is the biggest joke of a scene

okayyy the story is picking up now... actually enjoying this a lot! recently, i've been reading romantasy where the romance has been as tepid and plain as lukewarm milk, but the romance here actually is making me feel sth

i thought the start was strong but nothing is really grabbing my attention :/
