Oh Toni... at least Jessie has the right idea even if she is trying to fight it...

Okay, so I'm a bit confused at how quickly things between Toni and Jessie went from tense and awkward to a weekend of passion in the woods... I get that is where the story was ultimately going, but it almost seemed like an instantaneous jump from night to day. maybe I missed something important...

So as the story progesses I am actually finding that I'm getting drawn in. there still isn't a whole lot of depth to the main characters but there is some. In any event the story is engaging enough to keep me reading.

The author's writing style is fairly basic, but that isn't an all together bad thing. I'm not really far enough in to formulate an opinion on the overall plot, though so far it seems like a very stereotypical rom-com. I do find the main characters to be interesting and relatable, if a bit one dimensional. overall, so far it's an enjoyable read, but in a "take it or leave it" sort of way.

So, obviously, it ends how it ends, but the final leg of the journey was quite a bit different from the movie. I actually kind of like the movie's version better, though in the book Hazel Grace does gain some insight into Van Houghton, allowing closure to the Van Houghton story thread.

Augustus is very quotable. Interestingly, he is also the only character I alway read with the unusual affect the actor in the movie used, somehow that is just an intrinsic part of the character.

Thus far the movie has been very nearly word-for-word true to the book, much more so than I would have expected. There are a few changes to keep the movie flowing at a slightly faster pace (to do otherwise would result in the movie taking to long and diminish the impact of the story). It was nice to be able to read the text messages and letters, as the text moved a bit too fast during the movie for me to follow.

I came across the movie first, but that left such a powerful impact that I knew I had to seek out and read the book. I know this one is probably going to hurt, but if it's as good as the movie (and movie adaptations generally pale when compared to the books they came from) I can't wait to get started.

Just finished book two... The last three words felt almost like a physical blow. This is getting really intense, and more than a little scary.

I'm still looking for any link between our current Starborn and the sisters from The Starborn Ascension. For some reason I really feel a connection between Mora and Waverly, though I don't know how much of that is actual similarities between the characters and how much is me wanting there to be some evidence that the sisters didn't just meet sad and lonely ends...

Waverly and Remi, Evelyn, and unto the next generation... Things are starting to come together, but the way ahead looks long, bloody and difficult. I'm starting to think the next trilogy (The Starborn Uprising) picks up right where this book ends, despite it being set some 57-odd years in the future...

I'm sure Mitch has done something to Ethan, that he has spent weeks setting Ethan up to act as an unwitting sleeper agent for him. It makes me sick, the one ray of hope I cling to is that Ethan has been trying to alienate Waverly, and I'm sure that's the opposite of what Mitch wants.

Mitch is, hands down, the most evil fucked up son of a bitch. There can be no redemption for him, what he did to Waverly, what he made her do, is unforgivable!

HOLY FUCK!!! It may take me a solid week to fully process the last 2-3 chapters.... All of a sudden everything is happening so damned fast, it's insane...

just finished re-reading 'Anywhere But Here', at least this time I have the rest of the trilogy, because book one ends on one hell of a reveal and cliff-hanger!
