WOW screw Bertram. Helen can do SO much better.
And also my headcanon is that Bertram and Parolles are *cough* an item but they're unfortunately "evil gays" :'( unlike the good queer representation we see in Twelfth Night lol
Anyway, for some reason I keep seeing Judi Dench as Elizabeth I as the Countess. Idk why.
But it's making me wanna get into embroidery.

I really wish there were a way to count 'Killing Stalking' as a single webtoon that I read this year. Because I definitely read it, and I'd like to rate it, but... there's no real entry for the whole series, only an entry for a "season" i don't think really exists, or for the paperbacks which I didn't read, I read the webtoon version.
Anyway. Yeah.

Gosh. So many books on my "Currently Reading" list, wouldn't it be great if I FINISHED ONE?
I thought I'd finish Frye by now, but... lol. I might, once I find it again.
I'd forgotten all about Mrs. Dalloway. I ought to finish that real quick too, I'm like halfway through.

Vrixton Phillips is on page 34 of 160 of The Devil's Details: A History of Footnotes
This is surprisingly good?
And while I was pretty sure that footnotes came from like... idk, marginalia or something, Zerby is clearly not writing a history of marginalia (which is very different and would be a multivolume work tbh) and apparently... actual /foot/notes don't show up until... much later than I thought they did :O after the invention of the printing press.
Now I wanna book on the hist of commentaries

I can't help but wonder how we're /still/ in the Ironic age/mode/era. I mean, I feel like the Modern and Postmodern are different, and even the way they react to the modes before them and their "grandfather modes", it seems to follow that now we're... still Ironic, but moving towards the Mythic, socially at least.
I dunno

the part about the conversion of Iceland is.... an interesting mix of violence and miracles???
like you can see the elements of "aw, poor christians, the heathens wouldn't let us spread the gospel :'(" in there, but also they're just killing people who are like "nah" and hewing off limbs.
hella mixed messages

You think Biblical Genealogies are a trip?
Honey.
Asgrim not only slew his brother, Gauk
He then proceeded to NAME HIS CHILDREN THE SAME NAME
THREE CHILDREN
ALL NAMED THORHALL
TWO SONS NAMED THORHALL
AND A DAUGHTER NAMED THORHALLA
where was the mother during all this wtf [as if she got a say, she was probably terrified of this guy]

Vrixton Phillips is starting Moby-Dick or, The Whale
Finished the introduction and the mind is already ablaze with ideas. Can't wait to get to the meat of it!
Particularly taken at the moment with the idea of Ahab as capitalist/bourgeois and crewmen as, well, the laborers (as made explicit in the text)
I read a quote in the intro that made this feasible, but I wonder if the book as a whole supports it.
Anyway, *shakes fist at sky* SOTOLA! thanks, I'm excited :D

So I downloaded Obsidian and everyone's talking about this book. Might as well read it, it's short enough.
The main complaint so far has been a lack of detail in just HOW to implement this miracle system... I mean the guy's fascinating enough, sure, but I'd like to hear more about how to do this for myself.
Having ADHD, I need help lol

Parmenides sure is an interesting fella.
I wonder what the world would've been like if Empedocles' shoe hadn't been found... that'd be an interesting alternate history, if philosophy never progressed past Empedocles and Parmenides lol.
