I can’t help but roll my eyes at the “evilness” of Maximus. Also.. the inconsistency of Shadera being drunk or lucid while consuming copious amounts of alcohol is jarring. And don’t even get me started on the “masks”

I hate the trope where villains do evil things just to be evil. Maximus is made out to be the big bad for everyone to despise but I can’t stop my brain from conjuring Tangled’s horse Maximus when I read the name.

Okay liked the twist about the stewards and James so at least it’s got one thing going.

This really isn’t doing anything for me

I get that Jorgen has been through a lot but if he doesn't stop feeling sorry for himself by the end of this novella, I'm going to get very upset

I know these books are light fluff and shouldn't be taken too seriously but god damn do Val and Zav annoy the hell out of me sometimes
