The entire Hebrew bible is just a weird collection of very niche and particular rules given in a mind numbing list format. Genuinely the most tedious thing I've ever read in my life, worse than geophysics textbooks. No wonder the tiny hats are so weird

Exodus is a fascinating book because it's immediately concerned with legalities and cultural norms. I've always been warm to the idea that many religions were born of the desire to make a legal system more concrete and that feels very apt here

There was a segment in one of the chapters of Genesis about how the sons of Isreal got a neighbouring tribe to circumcise all of their men in order to marry into Israel and when the men were weak recovering from the procedure, the sons of Isreal killed them all and stole all of their women. Hmmm

I forgot how awful it is to read left-wing authors and their insufferable masturbatory writing. The core concept of this work is incredibly simple (and agreeable), you don’t need to cite Deleuze

Again, this book is really just an attempt to summarise a collapse-adjacent facet of the thought of these “prophets”, so as a work it’s really quite weak, but it’s one of those rare books that ties together disparate traits of thoughts that I’ve had for years, finally giving some clarity where I previously had none, although I am on the extreme right so I guess that’s no surprise

This is great. A one star review notes how this book is lacking in criticism, shamelessly revealing the authors general agreement with the views of the thinkers discussed, but as someone who also broadly agrees with the thinkers discussed, this gives me the warm fuzzies and makes me feel very smart and correct.
