Struggling to go back to this one.... may wind up DNFing it. It's a good enough book but it doesn't grab me, sadly.

No new progress on this one, kinda lost steam with it tbh so I'm gonna drop it from "Currently reading" back into "to read".

So far, it's not what I expected... but that's not a bad thing. I was expecting generic urban fantasy vampire fluff and as of chapter six it's more "tough female cop procedural".

My head hurts from how moronic and illogical the characters act. There's "acting dumb" and then there's "not even the courtesy of a second dimension".

So far my opinion is "unlikeable characters, disjointed narrative, and nonsensical world"... this is not looking good.

First chapter or so in and... I'm not impressed so far. Nothing earth-shatteringly bad but... it's not hooking me either.

Started reading this one yesterday as something to keep me awake for a few hours and it managed that excellently.

Alex and Jackie's story in book 1 was touching and endearing with just the right amount of spice to get me fanning myself and going "oh my". I suspect the series might connect better if I understood anything about baseball, but with Jackie being new to the sport I at least get to see it through her eyes.

DNF: Just not a good fit for me.

I'm really struggling with this book as the jump to the Livestream world has dramatically changed the dynamic quite a lot. There's also the fact that we find out about the Alien attack and the reason is completely unbelievable for me to the point where it's immersion breaking.

So I'm half-way through chapter 8 and I'm really starting to get annoyed with the book. Carter's shady arranging of the first coffee date with Mackenzie made my hackles rise up for how unethical I perceived it and Carter constantly banging on about how "life is too complex to have occurred naturally" is really starting to piss me off. I'm going to give it a couple more chapters but I think this'll be a DNF...

Honestly, I've already grown tired of this series. It just doesn't fulfil me.

Hmm, chapter six's ending reminds me of the adage "Pride goeth before a fall"...

Wow, so chapter 5 was a bit of an emotional bludgeon... in a good way though. Starting to see some of Michelle's complexity come out, she's not perfect and she makes mistakes. She's having to figure out the role of Sire just as much as Aaron is trying to figure out his own life. I wonder what's going to happen to Lisa...

12% in and I am done with this one. I wasn't expecting much based on the reviews but somehow instead of being just 'bad' it's instead 'bad and dull'.

I think I am going to put this book into the DNF pile as I just can not get into it sadly.

Book one is complete now. Enjoyable so far...

and damn but this book is dull! The writing is clunky, the MC is in no way likeable or even appreciable and the ladies in it are almost mono-dimensional...

Okay, it took me over two days to get this far. This book just isn't for me...

This is the third time I've felt like giving up on this book and it's gonna be the final time!

The pace finally picked up a bit and I do respect the quality of the writing thus far, but I am still hovvering on the edge of giving up on this book. So far I'd describe it as a slow-burn sci-fi that's heavy on the imagery but for me personally leaves the scene a little flat and the characters a touch empty.

Well, so far the most interesting character is Mog the cat.... at least something is starting to happen though.....

Wow, talk about a slow start! I get the feeling the author is trying to portray Tabitha's life as being a dull, monotonous stream of neutral and negative experiences where she's just treading water but it really is making it a bit painful to read. I am just hoping that Iori's comment about it picking up further into the book is accurate...

Okay, I'm done with this series now! I've been steadily getting more and more unhappy with the series ass it progressed and now I've just had enough. I'm calling it quits here....

Note to self: This is the Kindle edition, not the paperback one.

Already reminds me of the series Lucifer a bit...

I am already seeing the author drawing parallels between the USNA and Germany during the period between WW1 and WW2 in the denial of the civilian populace over the scale of the USNA's defeat. I wonder if the author is going to push this facet further as the narrative progresses...

I so want a t-shirt with the Atttack Chicken of the Apocalypse on it!
