This is really not good, idk how much of it is that the writing is bad and how much is that the narrator for the audiobook has never read anything aloud before in her life.

My own morbid curiosity has won this round and I'm reading this I guess, I thought maybe the second one would be better but so far the writing is still grating. Just one such example from the very beginning:
"..., worrying his right temple with the thumb he always worried his right temple with."
like really girl are you sure that's how we want to write this?

I just don’t like how it’s written. 2019 slang doesn’t belong in a futuristic fantasy book, it’s going to date it very quickly and makes it seem juvenile. I’m having a hard time believing this is a book for adults. Idea is cool though and I do like gideon
