God this book is so boring. It’s very focused on geology and not so much on paleontology or paleo biology, and the writer often says things in ways that make it difficult to get what he’s saying, which makes it worse. I may end up DNF’ing this. But I’ll give it a little more before I decide.

I love this book. It’s my fave of my three books on Japanese slang. Despite being like 30 years old, some of the slang is still in use (I heard a couple in an anime that just came out last year). Others may not be, but still a good resource if I read stuff that’s older. I really like how he explains the etymology and gives example sentences for everything. Wish they’d do a new edition.

This is a really beautiful book, and the bio is interesting. The author is clearly passionate about Hokusai as an artist. However, they write like they’re addressing a graduate level art history class or something, at times. Often referring to things in European art scene (especially Italy in the ~17-18th centuries) and specific movements and such as a way to compare to edo during this time. Totally lost me

I’m glad I didn’t buy this book. It’s interesting in theory but it’s highly flawed. Im genuinely skeptical of how accurate some of the interpretations are, and honestly even if they are the connection is so abstract in most cases that it’s all but useless. It doesn’t teach you any pronunciations, at least not in the first 2 parts. Kanji Code is a much better book with a similar concept. May DNF this

Finally finished chapter 1. This book is very interesting, but the writer’s style is very difficult to muddle through. Thank god he breaks things up into small sections. Gonna take a break and read something else and then start in on chapter 2.

This is a great resource to quickly sum up some basic grammar terms you’ll see over and over again (like wtf a copula or predicate is). I just wish it was available as an ebook, so I could easily reference it whenever I’m studying on my iPad at night.

This will be read very slowly~~ as I am reading in Japanese and taking notes so I can improve my vocabulary and reading skills. May rest once I finish the first chapter since it’s ~40 po and I can only get through maybe 1-2pp per day 😅.

I wish TokyoPop would hurry up and digitize their catalog already :/.

Ooof this is sooo ‘90s... why are all three of them sharing the bed?? And wouldn’t you think it’s a little odd that a single dude kept his parents bed and sleeps in it (and maybe has sex in it)?? I’m not even gonna touch the way everyone is asking people’s ethnicities left and right, or the wonky character design for Bikky (what kind of name IS that???)...

The first chapter of this volume wasn’t in the anime, I think it’s a crossover from another CLAMP work...? I’m so confused....

While I once again appreciate the way the expected is turned on it’s head in the last story, I msg be my least favorite. The art was creepy, but it was difficult to tell what I was looking at half the time and most of it made little sense. It was a lot of nothing for a clever ending, imo.

“How to talk to girls” ... loved the art, the the rhythm of the prose, but as a story it didn’t do much for me.

This story seemed like it was trying to be a lot more philosophical and deep than it actually was... idk I didn’t like it at all. The art was meh and I just found it overly long and boring, with the twist at the end not as gasp inducing as I think it was intended to be.

Ahhh!! Not only is he Cuban, but he’s from Santiago, same as my mom!! 😍😍

I loved the art in the first story and the way it took a famous Sherlock Holmes tale and warped it into the (albeit bizarre) Cthulhu/old gods universe (including a surprising antagonist), though I honestly thought the way the old gods were integrated felt a little silly and took away a bit from the otherwise great piece.

Oh neat one of them was born and raised in Cuba! No wonder he can dance Latin so well 💃🏻 !

Finished 2nd season. This season dragged and tbh I preferred the original art style. I’m not sure why Rai isn’t more angry about Frankenstein being the cause of the modified humans (albeit indirectly)/Frankenstein using his sealed power repeatedly/doing things to suggest he wants to go back to his old ways. This season was even more cheesy, super heroy than the one before.

Finished Season 1... I like it, it’s a little shonen-y at times and though some of the humor is funny it’s a bit annoying how nearly every episode ends with a joke... it’s no where near as good as Blood Bank Imo but it’s also a very different kind of story. The theee main characters are cool and have really interesting powers, especially Rai. I hope we learn more about him at some point.

So it’s a Tulpa, as I had basically figured out. Ugh I want to like this series so much more but it’s so boring 💤

Wow... “Jack in the Box” was truly horrifying... I still don’t get why Kirie and Suichi don’t try to leave... don’t try to convince her family to leave...

Suuuuper creepy...

I get it. He died just like Danny did. Still feels like Danny’s death was unnecessary.

Why does a patient who has self harmed in the past and is at risk for future harm have (easy) access to a pair of scissors? And why is her IV being given via a glass vial like it’s 1940? The end of this chapter was so contrived. :/
