Intriguing and suspenseful. Well paced so far.

Soo boring...

I had forgotten this author loves to slam readers with characters and names relentlessly even if they never appear again. I also had forgotten that she will change up how they are referred to randomly.
For example, for 44 pages, a prominent character has been referenced as Pierce, then on page 45, he's Reed. I had a few seconds on confusion until I remembered Reed is the last name that we were told on around page 2.

A decent into madness? A genuine haunting?
The writing is dragging on a bit too long with repetition and no real story progress, but I'm invested just enough to push through.

The story starts rolling right at the start and has kept me interested so far. One issue is that each chapter is a different character, though they are well marked, it is slightly annoying. At least 8 characters have been thrown at the reader, I'm not saying it's confusing, as so far, it's been well done but I worry it will start to be messy. This style can be used to hide a bad story from a reader til too late.
