I love the characters, but this feels like a millennial trying to write as a gen x. "Breakfast at Tiffany's" was not a black-and-white movie. How did that get past editors? There were other references that were just wrong, but that one was the most annoying one.

I hate this book. These people are so frustrating. Erica is an idiot. You have an ex who cares absolutely nothing for you, but can't figure out that you have something that incriminates him? Plus, you've got a dude who wants to help and has the money to do so, but you can't figure out what he could do to help you? Lachlan is just as bad. She freaks whenever jail comes up, and you can't figure out what's wrong?

I'm not sure I can finish this one. If I don't like the main character, it's a tough read, and I end up hating the experience. Juniper is hideous. I can't imagine changing my mind about that. She lacks empathy or understanding of Chinese culture, and she is two-faced.

Y'all, I'm literally 1% in and already having a WTF moment. The main character is wearing shoes made of the molted skin of his enemies???? What in the Buffalo Bill is going on? It's a romance novel, for heaven's sake.

This is my first time reading this author, and I love it. She's taken one of my favorite tropes and made it fun. I love that Kenzie is a strong female lead who has faults.
