Just finished part 1! Basically “how are Diem and the gang gonna get out of this crazy mess?!” every 3 pages. I’m possibly *too* invested at this point. The pacing and excitement reminds me of Crescent City 1. I’m dangerously close to ignoring/forgiving the things that annoyed me about book 1 & 2. Does this mean I’ve tipped the scales and have become a super fan? Perhaps.

I really like the prose. The characters are all very vivid and relatable. The world & magic system are fun and straightforward. Feeling like I just need to push through the predictability of this first one. Kind of feeling like I’m getting wayyy too many hints for the twists/reveals but I’m still genuinely enjoying this.

I am in an aggressive slump but I do really like this book when I pick it up
