How is this book labeled suspense??? If something doesn’t happen soon this book is going on the DNF list.

I just can’t do it… This book is boring AF…

t started off strong, but then seemed to meander with nothing much happening for chapter after chapter then, suddenly, a bunch of bing bang boom huge events within the last 25 pages of the book. When I reached the end, I felt a little blindsided and entirely uncertain my overall feelings for the book. I’m glad I read it. Wouldn’t read it again.

I wanted to love this book so much. It was definitely an interesting story, different from the type of books. I’ve been reading lately. I heard a discussion about the idea for this book between Ann Patchett and Elizabeth Gilbert and really wanted to see what it was all about.

Started out really into this book then it just lost traction. Too pricey. And ultimately, Irene, the main character, frustrated me. How she just let people go (Tom, her mother) after experiencing so much loss in life. Life is too short. Grab on to live when it presents. There is NO WAY she pull have been so pissed she never would have opened the letter s from Tom. Skimmed the last pages of this book to get to the end

Great story. 5th or 6th grade level writing. Super curious how much is actually true?

It took nearly 200 pages for this book to finally become interesting. Why do I keep reading Freida McFadden? She’s truly a horrible writer. I’ll keep going but dear lord…

This book ended up being a total disappointment. I was completely enthralled at first, a definite page turned. However, once the “twists“ started being revealed, the book quickly went from intriguing to ridiculous. The author was really reaching. So many “revelations“ that made absolutely no sense and left so massive holes in the story. Super disappointed. Did this woman not have an editor?

Diane Chamberlain has become one of my favorite authors. She really knows how to weave a story, make characters feel real and relatable, and completely absorb you in a plot. I’ll admit I was a little frustrated with this story at first, with everything that went wrong for Tess, but I stuck with it, and the story completely drew me in. I ended up really loving it at the end.

Phenomenal audio performance- moved to tears multiple times. The voice of Sybil is outstanding.

I wish I had known this story was based on the artist Pissaro and his parents. It would have made it more interesting. The somewhat disconnected/rambling storyline makes more sense knowing this. Ultimately, I felt I was plowing through to the finish. I got distracted by several other books before finally finishing this one.

Seriously, depressing on all fronts. I don’t think anything good happens in this book.

I’m listening to this book on Audible, and I’ll finish it because I bought it, but it’s really hard for me to listen to. The subject matter is disgusting - involving the trafficking and brutal murder of young girls. Especially difficult when I have my own precious 12 year old girl.

This was a First Reads for me - so I read it on my kindle when I couldn’t sleep. Not sure I would’ve finished it otherwise. The writing was so simplistic and bland to me. The characters completely flat. I feel like it could’ve been so much more.

TJR does it again! The story did start a bit slow, but by the end this one had me crying ugly tears and feeling all the feels. The way TJR writes about love and relationships- not just romantic but parent/child, friendship and all the connections, is astounding. The way she wove the story of Francis and Joan was my favorite. Loved this book and was sad when it ended.

This book is not for me. Minimal skill demonstrated by the author – all the character voices sound the same. I’ve enjoyed lots of thrillers and some pretty crazy stuff but this story, centered around a child murderer who kills kids and stuffs them in suitcases is, to me, revolting. 👎
