Always loved this author's articles in the Saturday supplement and eagerly awaited the book, which doesn't disappoint. Very amusing, down to earth, and true to life.

So much for settling down to domestic fatherhood with toddler daughter Melissa. This book six of the series rounded the whole saga off for me. Some say it's a stand-alone but to get the real 'fullness' of the story it's best to start at the beginning and work your way through. Nail-biting, edge-of-your-seat exciting adventure as the team goes in to rescue one of their own against all odds, I absolutely loved it.

Unsettling as usual and slightly disturbing - brilliant, just the way I like my reading material and, yes, Luke Smitherd, you've done it again giving me that creepy-don't-want-to-turn-off-the-light-at-night feeling. Keep up the good work, and I'm on to your next one.

Another marvelous offering from Arthur Conan Doyles twin brother Hugh Ashton. I can't emphasise enough that the style of writing is to be commended as well as the storylines and the style is so reminiscent of Conan Doyle you just can't tell the difference. I want more!

As authentic as if Sir ACD had penned them himself...right, I'm heading into the next that Mr Ashton has to offer in these extraordinarily entertaining stories.

Hugh Ashton is Conan Doyle's long-lost relative, I think.

I love this series of 'additional' stories, so much in the style of Conan-Doyle. They read just like the real thing.

Reading this was like eating out at a fine dining restaurant, finding the food delectable & divine, & not wanting the meal to end. I loved this great example of Luke Smitherd's extraordinary imagination, and I love tales that leave you wondering ... in a good way. This novella was very neatly thought-out & cleverly put together, & will in fact be the third one of his I've read. Right, onto the next one!

Zipping along nicely, this novella showcases the creepiness as what's going on starts to take shape.

This is the treat I thought it would be, you always get more than you bargained for with Luke Smitherd, his stories make my eyes race across the pages, turning frantically for the next sentence.

I'm rather partial to the cozy whodunnit and I've been a lifelong Agatha Christie fan. This tale, while not written by the great Dame herself, lends itself to her methodology of crime-solving and thus makes for a very interesting read with twists and turns that led to the truth in a roundabout way. It is also most unusual that it is set in Australia which I found quite novel.

This really is a delight with twists and turns, red herrings and a plot that keeps you guessing right up to the last. I've enjoyed this very much and will be writing a full review when I've finished.

This is turning out to be really good. I love the way the characters, all amateurs, 'borrow' Christie's methods of solving crimes by referring to her stories as they struggle to solve a crime just dropped into their laps and I'm loving the way the mystery unfolds and how, just as all appears to be revealed, nothing is as it seems.
