the killer in this is a young person who is angry he'll never be able to afford his own home and dear lord that made me roll my eyes.

Gen Z types such as myself will never be able to own. We complain about it a lot. and so this author decided that should be his killers motivation?

Im so fucking lost and kind of annoyed to be honest.

Quantity is not the main thing but this is, regardless, the best year of reading I've had since I started using goodreads and I must say Im awfully proud of that.

A: No you cannot be allergic to MSG, though you can have an intolerance to it. This was known when this was written and the talk of 'Chinese Restuarant Syndrome' feels just plain racist.

B: The lead and her ex husband need to sort there shit out. It's exhausting. Also don't compare adrenaline thrill-seekers to drug addicts its tactless for so many reasons.

David is finished with Doctor Who: Sky Pirates!
I have 22 pages left of this book and Ive just kind of defaulted to speed-reading and not caring if I miss details. Im just finishing this due to the sunk cost fallacy if Im being honest

Increasingly convinced that the author didn't know how to fill the word count of this and that's why it's got so much detail. I like the concept- a gung-ho pirate adventure set in a setting inspired by pre-space age sci-fi about space travel, with lovecraftian horrors as the villain all told through the lens of douglas adams- but it ends up being too much at once.

This series' rather haphazard approach to editing is probably this book's greatest fault. A bit overwritten, trying a teensy bit too hard to be alien and thus being far too overwhelming. But I guess I'll keep reading

The writing of this is a tad repetitious, just gonna say.

I forget how casually books like this, especially older ones, are willing to indulge in stereotyping. I guess it is nearly 20 years old but I just cringed at something in it

I'm curious- why do you do the Goodreads Reading Challenge? What is your motivation for doing so? Has the way you used it or the goal you usually set shifted over time?

My goal's remarkably lower than it has been in passed years and I'm okay with that but it's made me wonder about other people's relationship with the feature

I have less than 50 pages left. I'm almost glad I've been in such a tight spot with my part-time job- more time for this.

I'll be writing up a full review in a day or two- or perhaps later today, but suffice to say, it is a difficult novel to get through but worth the effort.

I've been reading War and Peace though I've not been tracking my progress on here and am likely going to finish it this week. And I can't believe I'm saying this but it may be the greatest book I've ever read. It's been months of reading and I'll be done in the next day or two. I'm astounded at myself and at Tolstoy's brilliance.

I want to believe these stories are true so far. I feel like most of them aren't. But honestly they're so entertaining I don't entirely care. I hope the one about the Demolition Derby driver who gets turned on by car wrecks is though
