I have started reading this book in 2020, when the BLM movement ignited, I don’t know what happened and how I came to just suspend reading a book as amazing as this!
I picked it up again since feb is black history month

Reading this with Ramin's music in the background, it's a great read, although it is mainly narrated in the manner of a history book written by a high septon and not a work of fiction, so very different from a Game of Thrones, where characters' viewpoints are variously displayed.

I am learning alot about the Targaryen history and the events and characters that lead to the known GOT settings.

quite hard to suspend disbelief, the pace is slow and it's a bore so far.

if it weren't for the fact that I have to put it down so often, you know, to live my life, I would've been done reading it. An absolutely fabulous page-turner.

as soon as the author introduced handicapped children in Germany, I knew what was to be done with them. So hard to be living in a world in which fascism is not only rising, but also taking over the spirits of some influential countries #brexit a lot of parallels are in fact to be drawn between the world during the 40s and current history.

at first, I thought I'd picked the wrong book from the sequel, set in the 20th century with claire back to scotland, but yet in a time that is not her own. as things moved on on the same storyline of the seventeen hundreds, and the trip to france, it is as if I have left outlander behind, and have picked one of zola's books, describing the french society.. I can't wait for things to start moving on..
