I don't even have the words to convey my rage right now. Racist, xenophobic, bigoted people should NOT be allowed to be part of a trial in any aspect; investigative or on the jury, especially when the one being tried is having their race and religion on trial instead of their involvement. Our judicial system is an absolute mockery.

This book was never going to be a quick read for me; it's packed to the brim with medical, A&P, biological, and cryptic details and history. This latest chapter about live animal Frankenstein experimentation is so deeply disturbing.

One of my BIGGEST pet peeves: INCOMPETENCE. Especially in individuals of power. Man of color has zero evidence against him; gets 1st degree murder charge. White man has an encyclopedia of evidence against him; gets dismissed and he's set free to go on his merry way (i.e. the one that murdered 2 innocent people earlier this year at a BLM protest).

So far I have never resonated more with a memoir than I am with Edward's currently. So many poignant statements hit home and made me feel truly seen.

This scene made me go down a rabbit hole of research. Apparently "slave auction day" is a real thing for high school spirit weeks here in the US and some schools still practice it to this day. Wth?! So wrong. I am disgusted.

As if this book couldn't gut me further... my heartstrings man.

So I didn't know what a cozy mystery was before this book, but I'm definitely digging it. This book makes me so excited for winter, christmas songs, reading books by the fire, and yummy treats all while trying to solve a mystery.

I am not ready for this book to come to an end 😭 Julian is so precious I can't even.

This book is so good and I love smart ass characters so much Julian has me laughing so much.
