Treebeard instead of Old Man Willow?

Why is there a lengthy discussion of art in Leaf by Niggle in a book called The Plants of Middle-earth? We are meandering so much outside of what the book promises.

Is this person really waxing nostalgic about doing laundry pre-washing machines? I'm totally on board with reclaiming the old ways of doing some things, and I agree that mechanizing every task isn't the progress we think it is. But LAUNDRY? I don't think anyone who had to wash a family's clothing/linens by hand all their lives would miss it.

I intended to read more of this today but I don't think I have it in me to listen to witch trials nonsense on my day off.

I really want this ghost to be older than 14. Like, okay, she's a ghost from 400 years ago, so you can argue that there's no harm in it. But we're still reading it and picturing a 14yo kid - so why *can't* she be old enough that this wouldn't feel so uncomfortable? We'll see.
