Started this at 5:30AM and now I'm mad at myself. I have to get up and do all the things that don't include reading this book. Definitely lives up to the hype.

COMPULSIVE in its readability.

Most likely I will not sleep tonight.

I went into this book blind, having just put it on my holds list with Libby because it appeared on the best of list on Goodreads.

I am being quietly devastated by this book. I hope the ending is as good as the journey has been....I'll let you know tomorrow.

I didn't think I could love a poet as much as I loved Kate Baer....maybe I just do really like poetry? This book has been the perfect start to my day each day.

Man, I wish I wasn't reading this on Libby. So much I want to underline, comment on, remember. bell hooks writes with care, fierce intellect and boldness. Taking time to read a chapter at a time in order to let it sink in.

I love Rutherford's books. It's work to read one....I'll probably end up printing out the family tree so I don't have to keep going back and forth as I read. But I love all the connections, getting to zoom in and out on characters, events and stories over a period of 100s of years. Also I can't wait to be in Paris as I read all about the history - from the building of the Eiffel tower to all the various churches.

Ok. Confession. I don't know anything about Dave Grohl. Is he in a band? Does he sing or play an instrument? I have no idea.

I picked up this book because it was on a list and because I'm here to read new things this year.

That intro, though? I amen'd every word. It spoke to this middle age mom heart and I can't wait to read the rest of this book......and look up who exactly Dave Grohl is.

Just laughed my way through "Fact or Fiction?" and cried my way through "Pretty Pink Peonies". So glad to have discovered this writer who can, all at once, make you laugh, cry and want to hug your family a little tighter.

"To you who talk too much and sing too loud and cry too often and love something in life more than you should." (dedication) From the beginning, this book has wrecked me. Every page has a sentence that I want to underline/to remember, a phrase that brings to life my mother's heart or speaks a truth so blatantly yet so beautifully. Backman doesn't overdramatize rather it's his simplicity that will destroy you.

Did I follow Melissa Florer-Bixler on FB? Yes, I did.

This book continues to challenge me. Can't wait to read the rest.

DANG. I don't know what the rest of the book will hold but I'm expecting to be challenged on each and every page. I love the way the author writes with conviction and doesn't sensationalize her position rather succinctly, intelligently lays out her argument. She says hard things in a palatable way. I'm looking forward to the reading more.
