So far, the ad "game of thrones X shogun" is pretty fair to the book. It's the FIRST that something like that has happened to me. Everytime I read these sorts of ads, I feel bullshitted. But here, finally, I think it's not the case. Said that, of course, I am not expecting a copy of said books, but the tones, the writing, the epicness and the great character work are all there. It takes it time though.

Apprezzo le atmosfere "da occulto" e il protagonista con il suo ospite Sarmodel. Il loro banter mi piace molto. I restanti personaggi sono fatti di filigrana, però. Il worldbuilding, all'inizio molto interessante, è diventato presto un misturotto di ingredienti che mal si sposano tra loro. Abbiamo Giovanna d'arco, gli arcangeli, gli dei dell'antica Roma che secondo me cozzano con spiriti, fantasmi e demoni

apprezzo molto lo stile e le ambientazioni, ma non riesco ad interessarmi per i personaggi ne le loro sorti. Trovo che in un certo senso la prolissità mi stia distraendo dalla narrazione Sto praticamente leggendo a vuoto da pagina 1 e non capisco bene nemmeno io il perché :(

Che piaga di libro, davvero un peccato

Starting with the second part, the plot is getting all over the place 🥲

La storia mi incuriosisce. Il ritmo rimane ancora molto lento che non è un problema. Per il me il problema è lo stile con frasi brevissime al presente che mal si adatta al ritmo lento. il sistema militare dell'accademia non è la mia Cup of tea, ma rimango curiosa di sapere chi ha ucciso il fratello di Ulciscor. Vis è relatable ma al momento fino a un certo punto, dato che riesce bene in tutto.

Al momento mi risulta essere molto, molto affrettato e privo di caratterizzazione. Se ci arrivo in fondo, è solo perché è un libro breve. Davvero un peccato perché, essendo simile a Terra mare, speravo che potesse darmi quello che la Le Guin non mi ha dato.

I guess I will continue with story by watching the TV series and I will ditch the next books in the series. The reviews are not reassuring and point out at the same flaws that this book has.

Nella seconda si risolleva un po' ma la trama rimane comunque un casino

After two years waiting for the sequel, I can't remember what happened in detail in the first book. A recap at the beginning would have been nice. At the moment, I feel a bit disconnected from the story. I hope it picks up pretty soon.

Che palla! L'autrice proprio si perde tra tazze e vestiti d'epoca di cui non mi interessa un bel niente. Anche leggendo la trama sulla Wikipedia si può ben notare che 700 pagine per capire cosa contiene l'ashmole 782 sono troppe, ma il punto è che se fosse una serie di avventure, fughe, intrighi e casini vari sarebbe interessante e invece si parla di arredamento, abbigliamento, personaggi che non hanno alcun ruolo..

Continuiamo i buoni propositi di finire le serie iniziate. È passato tanto tempo da quando ho letto il primo, di cui ho letto un riassunto e guardato la serie TV nel frattempo. La trovo comunque una trilogia super-/paranormale che non scade nel volgare, con un'ambientazione ben curata e tanti riferimenti storici e letterari. Il problema maggiore sta nel ritmo stagnante che mi risulta spesso noioso.

Tono leggermente Meno fiabesco del primo e molto lento in alcuni punti ma mi sta piacendo molto lo stesso 🤩

Questa non è una storia bensì Un viaggio attraverso luoghi infestati dai vampiri tramite appunti di viaggio e lettere raccolte in questo volume. L'edizione é molto ben curata e illustrata. Si passa per Inghilterra, Italia, Russia Transilvania, estremo oriente, omaggiando i classici sui vampiri come Carmilla e Dracula

I am almost at the point where I left off last year. I am reading it in three formats: paper in English, audiobook in English and ebook in Italian, depending on where I am. I cannot explain it, but every time I read the Italian text, I feel like giving up on the book, as I already have. Surprisingly, the English text is much smoother and I feel more immersed in the story.

I will try again this one in English. Ci riprovo ma in inglese stavolta. Non ve lo so spiegare ma le frasi brevi, di cui non sono un'amante in generale, in inglese scorrono meglio.

The characters'voice are all the same and together with the naming I barely follow who is talking. The author manages to put together two genres, investigation and cosy - or low stakes -, that doesn't quite work for me. I need tension,I need to worry, but I am getting very bored instead🥱

I have 30 pages and it feels like I have read half of a book. The writing style is ornate, which I appreciate, but it is so tedious for a detective story. It lacks any emotion and tension. Besides the names are long and overly complicated, so I can't remember who is who or what is who. I struggled with this aspect also in the first books and there's no glossary

Questo è IL FANTASY e io mi pento soltanto di arrivare tardi al party

Worldbuilding complesso, anche se i suoi elementi rimangono frammentati risultandomi quindi confuso. Ad esempio, non capisco come la logica o la geometria euclidea possano produrre qualcosa di magico. I protagonisti però mi piacciono. La critica sull'accademia è spot on!

The banter is top notch and the style is very polished. The story is on point. What more could I have asked for?

Finalmente ci liberiamo di Helena, la guastafeste e lasciamo libro spazio ad un banter che mi sta facendo ridere 🍾🎊

Un solido esordio con un worldbuilding ben ricercato e pensato, protagonisti che mi hanno convinto, ritmo incalzante e una storia molto interessante. L'unico "difetto" che riscontro è la mancanza di una posta alta in gioco o di un senso di pericolo per i personaggi durante scene di incursione, combattimenti o simili.
