It’s always been difficult for me to speak and express my innermost thoughts in person. I prefer to write. When I sit down and write, words grow very docile, they come and feed out of my hand like little birds, and I can do almost what I want with them; whereas when I try to marshal them in the open air, they fly away from me.

He walks a little faster: tomorrow everything will be different, tomorrow. Suddenly he realizes that tomorrow will be the same, and, after tomorrow, all the other days. And he is crushed by this irreparable discovery. It’s ideas like this that kill one. Men kill themselves because they cannot stand them—or, if they are young, they turn them into epigrams.

A sentence about this darkness in which I lived
and from whose solid stones I built my days.
I kept on climbing
until I myself became the darkness.

The paper kite
slipped from my hands,
as did the longings,
the love and the hate,
and even the land.
But Iʼm neither regretful
nor afraid—
regret and fear
also slipped away.

Kai kurie vaizdai rodės tiksliai neapibrėžiami, su-vokiami kaip potyriai. Ežero žvilgėjimas, miško žalumos skaistumas. Degėsių kvapas, miežinio papločio skonis. Nuskustos galvos šerių dygumas.
