the snail's pace at which I am reading this book bears no correlation to my enjoyment of it. This is such a good book, I'm just really distracted lately.

'I didn't know if my fascination with it was maternal or predatory' - a deeply unlikable protagonist perfectly summing up why I deeply dislike her. Maybe I'm supposed to?
