Thoughts: When I have to think about assessing a classic work "according to the mores of the time", I'm going to squint at whether or not it does WELL for its time. Is it progressive re. sexuality, respect for the natural world and gender/race/diversity? According to its time. Hmmm

All caught up on my GR updating, and surprise, I've already blown my 100 book goal, and it's OCTOBER! How many will there be?

Feels smug about catching up two post-it notes worth of books read. Realizes remaining list is 24 books long.

Never since I joined GR have I gotten SO far behind on updating the books I've read. I might be 50 behind; I don't even know! But I have all my little lists:)

Here comes the post deluge!

I've done it again. My updating and reviewing is dozens of books behind my consumption. Alas. There will be a deluge of reviewing at hand.

I am so far behind on updated my books read! I'm even starting to write sideways on the post-it.

Huh! Since I'm listening to this and it's narrated by a man, I missed that the author/researcher is female.

I managed to miss that this was a FOUR book trilogy, so I've read them out of order.

I love it when I get a book from the library and it's all battered. Stains, cup rings, pages stuck together, spine split. This physical book has got a story of its own!

This is an incredible analog for right now (unexpected). In the late forties/early fifties, people were sentenced to death for giving tech information to Russia, racism was a political issue, politicians fomenting racism inspired violence. There was surge of technological advance. It just feels like, why is this happening again so similarly?

The more I read, the more I want to read. Is that...addiction?!

Having loved the movie, I'm listening to the book going "Ok, now which one's Janelle Monáe?"

So far, slow and not extremely interesting

GAAAAHHHH! The year is almost over, and I failed to input a book a day as intended (I had a bunch of deadlines myself, and, Xmas!), so now, it comes to this: the deluge!

I've read 34 books since I last updated GR (still on schedule for 100). So if I review one every day...I might catch up by the end of the year!

So I've taken the summer off of posting book reviews, but I hop enow I'm back. My challenge says 13 behind, and I'm really 3 ahead! Eek!

12 books read, oh, almost 13, and no reviews.....oh, the weight of guilt grows!

So close ... and yet so inert.

I give up. Not gonna happen.

I've been so sick! But luckily discovered Flavia de Luce, which was perfect audio companionship to miserable cold/flu (in a good way).

Wow! I thought I knew lots already about the Halifax Explosion, but every book I read about it seems to be another realm of info.
