A luscious morning of read, read, reading. Can't remember the last time I got to do that. Can't remember yesterday.

Now that I have 5-10 minutes at a time to read, I finally appreciate short stories.

I basically hate everyone in The Portrait of a Lady. But it's my fault for not just skipping it when it got really really dull.

True life confession. In reading The Portrait of a Lady, I kept waiting for the Countess Olenska to show up. Maybe I need to read more slowly (or actually pay attention to movies I watch).

Still reading this. Mostly because it's the only thing that helps me sleep. Although when he accused Safran Foer of too much cuteness, my heart did warm a little.

Picking out books for the hospital bag turns out to be a big responsibility. I don't know that we'll read any of it, but the winners are Nine Stories, Cosmicomics, and a book by Adrienne Rich.

Some interesting observations, but mostly I keep asking myself why I'm reading this again. Also, page breaks between sections are a gift I wish I'd been given. Let the work breathe.

Finished Daisy Miller (okay) and Washington Square (meh). On to Portrait of a Lady.
