Trying to pick up where I left off one year later! Hopefully the sadness of the book was front-loaded…

Finally resuming this and it’s much more relevant with a toddler than a baby! Parenting books are always “take what you like and leave what you don’t”, but some really good advice in here.

This book seemed like it would be 100% my speed; I love dark academia, mystery, and multiple perspectives. Unfortunately, so far I’m disappointed. The pacing is slow, characters are meh, and there are so many little details missed in editing (repetition, inconsistencies, etc!) that are driving me bonkers. Contemplating a DNF, but maybe it will turn around…

I read at a snail’s pace in Spanish, so this is taking me an eternity, but I’m finally getting into it. Even at this rate, I will finish a few months before the translated edition is published, so I may as well keep going. 😂😂

Loving this so far, the perfect book to carry me over into the new year. Poetic with beautiful imagery, not my usual page-turner, but rather a slow meditation… I’m so glad I finally picked this up! (I bought the book in April of ‘22 after loving an interview with the author, and it sat on my shelf until now.)

Given where I am in the story, I’m baffled that there is still half of the book left. It’s slow going but I’m really digging this so far.

How am I not even halfway?! I swear I like it more than my reading pace would suggest. I have some mixed feelings, but definitely want to see how the rest of the story unfolds...
