I might need to read this another time? Great God Pan the story was amazing and haunting but the stories after it just feel very…dense…and not in a way that Im able to digest currently. Will try to come back to this soon.

Nevermind, I actually like her better than Sei Shonagon I think. There's more sadness to her that I only had a glimpse of in Shonagon's writing.

Oh I love this more than the first one! The dynamic between Monty and Daphne just is the flavor Im looking for in a romance book. I find them both relatable too.

The introduction is so boring 🥱 I get that it’s explaining Heian court life for the Western audience but there seems to be a bias in the small commentaries here and there. Maybe I also didnt need to read the intro—I dont claim having deep knowledge of Heian court life but I have an idea. I really just want to get into the diary proper.

This book is great for day reading, preferably while sipping a nice drink. Im reading this now on kindle but I need a physical copy so I can scribble notes. It’s so rich and insightful to see the Heian court through Sei Shonagon’s eyes.

Oh great, we get a tsundere this time around.

I just started the book about four hours ago, it’s almost 6am but I dont want to put it down 🙃
